It is never a question of whether thirty-something, freelance writer Aaron will kill himself; it is only a question of whether he can achieve his suicidal aims without making a statement. Coming to peace with a lifetime of humiliations, failures and discontent by selling or destroying all evidence of his material life, Aaron merrily schedules his suicide to coincide with the completion of his last writing assignment - chronicling an obscure art collection, recently inherited by a former lover, as it travels across the south. As his adventures grow increasingly desperate including an ill-conceived and unplanned trip to rural Mexico, his obsession with accidental patron of the arts, Teddy, is renewed. What Aaron does not fully notice is that Teddy holds a secret and is intent that everything make a statement; her statement.
