The Phobos is still critically damaged from her encounter with the raider, and the crew has now discovered the obsolete city-ship Kyoto. When they board the ship in search of spare parts, they find clues to a lost colony. Despite their precarious situation, Captain Lightholder decides to seek them out. Evacuating a large number of disaffected colonists brings on a host of new problems. New and old enemies continue to dog their steps as the crew tries to find their way to safe harbor. With the insurrection against the Terran Alliance growing bolder, it will take more than a little luck to get them to their final destination.
