Machine the first in a series of novels highlighting the breakout story of a new type of Superhero. Leo Cortez is a new Detective in the Houston Police Department investigating a series of events surrounding murder, gang activities, and the occult. His investigation tells him he was meant to be the one investigating these crimes that it had already been decided he would become THE TOOLMAKER. Unwilling to see his own potential Leo squabbles an opportunity for greatness as he lingers behind a would be ally in the form of a Veteran Detective from another Precinct. Unknown to Leo this other Detective does not have Leo's best interests in mind. Sometimes Hero's die before they are ever really born.
