Clara Moore is an eighteen-year-old shut in. At seven years old, a car crash activated The Parallels, a power to rewind time and alter her own life's history. As she grew older, these powers grew stronger and sometimes had a mind of their own. Her little sister Penny falls ill and leaves Clara in a panic to change the past. Stress brings Clara to reminisce about her best friend's disappearance when she was a child. These memories and realities cause doubt and grief with no way out. With the Parallels coming and going, Clara is not sure if she will be able to save Penny before her powers consume her sanity. Derek Macaby can shovel horse manure pretty well. At least he tells himself this. His job at Yellow Barn on Marren Hill is a getaway from his curse. Reading people's pasts can put a lot of stress on one guy, especially with college in the future. When he was a young boy, Derek lost his mother to the ocean. His curse came after this, leaving him with nothing but hope for a better future. Derek has since been determined to master his abnormality and find a way to become a better person. When Clara and Derek reunite, the pendulum of life swings at them head on. Only time will tell if their abilities can help or hurt. Perhaps living every timeline is the only way to fix things... Parallels is the first book in The Parallels series. Set in fictional Berrick, Massachusetts. Join Clara and Derek as they set sail on memory's silver lake towards a hazy future.
