Japuonj Aloys Afulo (1922-2006) Part II

The past and current socialisation and education of the African is terribly skewed, with the result that they are destined to be second class citizens of this globe forever. Yet Africa is the centre and origin of almost all resources, and with just some re-orientation, Africa and Africans can be the powerhouse they were meant to be. For now, we don't know who we are...meaning we can never have a vision for the future...literally a future of our descendants if we don't know ourselves at all. As such, the priority is for Africans to discover themselves, through their geneology, to be able to know who and where they are (from their ancestors), where they are going, and who may be inspiring them. In addition, Africans learn the wrong things...wrong curriculum...trans-nighting to cram what 'spring' season is...what 'fall' season is...who is the 20th grandfather of Pharaoh .... He of the Moses times, who the great grandfather of Vasco-Da-Gama is.....but failing to know the most basic essential information about themselves.... Afulo-Ogutu-Ogeya-Afulo-Wamra-Hajula-Dimo-....their lineage. in this lies their strength. If all trace their genealogy, Africa shall soon realize that they have a cultural diversity that can open all economic doors....tourism, trade, Science, Technology, cultural exchange... Unless we lean to know the powers behind people we are named after.... Gor Mahia... Lwanda Magere... Nengo Jamwa... Ogutu Kipapi... Oyamo..etc, we are doomed. We compete to get names whose meanings we cram for years...but fail to understand that in our family name lies the greatest strength..the first role model and the silent mentor.. This book attempts to bring out these salient issues about Africa- starting with cultural centre of diversity of the most prolific tribe of the world- the Luo... and which pride in having produced the first ever black American president- Barrack Hussein obama. Among the Luo, Dimo is key as they occupy the craddle of all Luo in Kenya, the legendary Ramogi Hills (Got Ramogi), which ideally should have been registred by UNESCO as a world Heritage site. The legendary Dimo is the founder of the Kadimo (sometimes wrongly spelt as Kadimu) in Siaya County, Kenya. He gave forth four sons: Bith, Were (renamed Nyathuon, Ajongo and Maganda....all living in Yimbo, the home to Ramogi hill (Got Ramogi) where the first great ancestor to fully associate with Kenya- Ramogi III (Renamed Ramogi Ajwang') first settled in 3-5 centuries ago. This is the first in a series of lineages, genealogies of the African people. Japuonj liked this kind of knowledge, and given chance, could have incorporated it into the academic syllabus for formal education. This is why we present its details here in his honor. He belonged to the Kawamra sub-clan of Kanyathuon, Kadimo / Kadimu (Dimo Kingdom), Siaya County, Kenya. The book is available @ Amazon for purchase to all interested in geneology, ethnography and ancestry studies.
