Marc Notes: In this variation on the traditional song, the narrator's aunt makes repeated trips to Louisiana, returning with a bag of red beans from New Orleans, gumbo from Thibodaux, peaches from Ruston, and so on. Includes sheet music plus facts about the places mentioned in the song. Jacket Description/Flap: Using a traditional song that she has artfully adapted, Johnette Downing has created a whimsically rhyming picture book. The story tells of various Louisiana fare such as red beans, fili1/2 gumbo, baguettes and beignets, and crawfish stew. Children are also introduced to the Cajun accordion, which came to Louisiana from Germany and is an important part of Cajun music.
