Mythology, much like modern religion, was used as a way to understand the world around the Ancient Egyptians in a way that their science could not yet explain, as well as to give the people of Ancient Egypt a sense of hope, a sense of justice, and a sense of both what happened before they were born and what will happen to them after they die.
