It is the year 829 CE, Signy has grown up in a tiny hamlet on one of the isles in Southern Denmark and knows the outside world only from stories. Events take her to Svealand and to the bustling market town Birka, a vastly different place, and to a new life in the household of the town völva, a Norse shamanic healer and witch.

The Norns want her to stop hiding her own strength. And they use every choice she makes to bring her closer to knowing herself.
