The Sins of Salmon River

Alex, a demolitions expert, just discharged from the Army, stops over in rural Washington to visit a Special Forces buddy. After he becomes involved with Kate, the town darling, he learns of her meth addiction and battles to save her and her son, Billy, who is being heavily recruited by a ruthless teenage gang, the Posse. Alex struggles to save Kate and Billy from the heavy pitfalls of the worst of the worst drugs. Inadvertently, Alex now comes up against a powerful NW gang with persuasive ways greater than the biggest cartel. Not only have they bamboozled the town council and Pierce county, the second worst meth county in the country, but the Feds. Dathan, the goon platoon's brutal leader, persuades Alex into doing a booby trap to pay Kate's drug debt. Alex feels there's no other way to free Kate and Billy from Dathan and from Salmon River's impenetrable grip. Inwardly, Alex fears he is in over his head. After a daring rescue from an explosive meth fire, the DEA begins to pursue Alex as an informant. Dathan and his ruthless gang now work hard at eliminating him. When a large DEA bust goes awry, Alex is left in a quandary with no other option but to run taking his newfound family with him. As they prepare to leave, a catastrophic event comes upon the small town and their attempt to escape is seemingly thwarted with no way out. A suspense-thriller, theme oriented the story revolves in and around a drug made by anyone, anywhere from anything. Although it could easily be a true tale, this is a work of fiction. More like The Grapes of Wrath than Traffic, it is character driven by an extraordinary array of characters, wherein the reader is easily carried away into a fanatical world few know exists. The plot with its many twists and turns promises to entertain and to hold you captive from beginning to end. The third of a series of three books, a must read are Book I - The Town Darling and Book II - The Goon Platoon.
