Born during World War II, Rusty Lutz arrived during the golden era of radio. After television arrived on the scene, some wondered, who would want to go into radio broadcasting? But Rusty did.



And the latter half of the twentieth century provided plenty of events for Rusty to cover. From natural disasters to multiple wars to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Rusty worked on serious occurrences of the day, providing the significance of world events to listeners.



But not everything in Rusty's career was solemn. He also covered elections, political conventions, presidential debates, and visits from Pope John Paul II. And while all this was happening, the world was changing. Women could become something other than housewives-even presidential candidates. Families could be headed by same-sex couples, not just a married man and woman. And a black man could become the president of the United States.
